Why this exists

Your boiler flashes a code at seven in the morning in January. You search it. You land on a page that spends 600 words explaining what a boiler is before it tells you anything, or on a forum thread from 2014 where nobody agreed. Meanwhile you still do not know whether it is safe to leave it on.

We built the site we wanted to find that morning. Every fault code page answers the same five questions in the same order: what the code means, whether it is dangerous, what causes it, what you can safely try, and what a repair costs. The answer is the first sentence on the page, not the last.

What we will not do

We do not host manufacturer manuals or copy their wording. We establish the facts from technical documentation and then write the explanation ourselves.

We do not tell you to do something dangerous because it makes for a better page. If a fault involves gas, combustion, a flue, or the inside of a sealed unit, we say plainly that it needs a registered engineer and we do not publish steps for it. That costs us traffic. It is not negotiable.

We do not pretend to be a manufacturer or an approved repairer. We are not affiliated with any brand named on this site. We use brand names only to identify which appliance a code belongs to.

How we pay for it

Three ways, and we would rather tell you than have you work it out. Some pages show advertising. Some parts links earn us a commission if you buy through them — we mark those clearly and it never changes what you pay. And if you ask us to find you an engineer, we pass that request to a vetted partner and they pay us for the introduction.

None of that changes what a page says. Severity ratings and safety advice are set by a qualified engineer before publication and are never adjusted for commercial reasons.
