Refrigeration technical reviewer

Vacant post: F-Gas certified heat pump and air conditioning engineer

This post is currently vacant, and no heat pump or air conditioning page on this site has been reviewed by a certified engineer. Unlike appliance repair, this trade has a real credential behind it: working on a refrigerant circuit requires F-Gas certification under the retained F-Gas Regulation, so when this post is filled the certificate will be checked and the details published here. Until then, severity on these pages follows what the manufacturers themselves publish, and they are unusually clear about it — Daikin state that resetting an error code should be done by a licensed installer or dealer, and Panasonic answer almost every one of their published codes by telling the owner to contact their installer. Where a manufacturer draws the line between owner, installer and refrigerant work, the page draws it in the same place.

What reviewing would mean here

The reviewer checks the severity rating and every do-it-yourself step on the pages they sign off, and re-reviews them at least every 18 months. Where a page says a fault needs a registered engineer, that decision is theirs rather than the writer’s.

That is the policy, and this post is not currently filled, so no page on this site carries a reviewer byline or claims to have been checked by an engineer. Severity is set from what the manufacturer publishes. You can see which sources were used at the foot of every code page.
