Vacant post: Gas Safe registered engineer
This post is currently vacant, and we would rather say so than imply a sign-off that has not happened. No Gas Safe registered engineer has reviewed the boiler pages on this site. What sets the severity on them today is the manufacturer’s own published instruction: where the manual says isolate the appliance and call an engineer, the page says that, and where the manufacturer publishes an owner remedy, the page publishes it. That is a defensible way to work and it is not the same thing as trade review, which is why no page here carries a reviewer byline. When an engineer is appointed, their name and registration number will appear on this page and the pages they have actually reviewed will say so.
What reviewing would mean here
The reviewer checks the severity rating and every do-it-yourself step on the pages they sign off, and re-reviews them at least every 18 months. Where a page says a fault needs a registered engineer, that decision is theirs rather than the writer’s.
That is the policy, and this post is not currently filled, so no page on this site carries a reviewer byline or claims to have been checked by an engineer. Severity is set from what the manufacturer publishes. You can see which sources were used at the foot of every code page.
