Bosch Hot status codewhat it means
Explicitly not a fault. The machine is cooling your washing on purpose, and Bosch ask you not to interfere with it.
Before you start
What Hot means
Of everything a Bosch dryer can display, this is the one people most often mistake for a problem, and it is the one where doing something about it is worse than doing nothing. Bosch’s own definition is worth reading in full: "The cooling process cools the laundry independently of the programme status for a few minutes while the drum is rotating, in order to avoid damage to the laundry. The cooling process can be cancelled by opening the door. Note: Do not change the set programme."
So the machine has finished heating and is now tumbling the load in cooler air for a few minutes before it stops. That phase exists for two reasons. The stated one is protecting the fabric, since hot cloth creases and some fibres are damaged by being left hot. The unstated one matters more, and it is the reason we rate the advice as firmly as we do: a load taken out hot, or left sitting hot in a stopped drum, retains that heat for a surprisingly long time.
Beko document the consequence better than anyone — heat continuing to build in a heaped load, potentially hours later, to the point of ignition. The cool-down is what prevents that, and cancelling it by opening the door is exactly what you should not do to make the message go away.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| The programme has reached its cool-down phase | The only cause. This is designed behaviour appearing at the end of every heated cycle, and it lasts a few minutes while the drum keeps turning. | Common |
| The load was dried on a high-temperature programme | Not a different cause so much as a longer version of the same one. A hotter cycle needs more cooling, so the phase runs longer and people notice it more. | Common |
What to try yourself
Do nothing. This is the correct response and the machine will finish on its own in a few minutes.
Leave the door shut. Bosch note the cooling process can be cancelled by opening the door, which is a statement of fact rather than a suggestion.
Cutting the cool-down short leaves you holding hot laundry. A hot load heaped in a basket holds its heat rather than losing it, which is the mechanism behind the warnings about never leaving a dried load sitting warm.Do not change the set programme while it is running. That instruction is Bosch’s own, in their display legend.
When the display changes to End, the programme is finished. Take the washing out then and shake it loose rather than leaving it in the drum.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Bosch Hot
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.

Common questions about Bosch Hot
Is something wrong with my dryer?
No. Bosch list this in their display legend alongside programme status indicators, not among faults, and their description is of a deliberate cooling phase. It appears at the end of heated cycles on a perfectly healthy machine.
Can I open the door and get the washing out early?
You can, and Bosch note the process can be cancelled that way. We would not. The phase exists to bring the load down to a safe temperature, and skipping it means taking out hot fabric that will keep its heat in the basket. It costs you a few minutes to let it finish.
How long does it last?
Bosch’s display legend says a few minutes and their troubleshooting table puts a number on it: "The cooling process takes up to 10 minutes." If your machine sits on this for much longer than that rather than progressing to End, that is a different question and worth looking at the filters.
What does End mean?
Exactly what it says — Bosch list it in the same legend as "Programme status: Programme end". That is the point at which the cycle is genuinely complete and the load is safe to take out.
