Bosch dishwashers fault codes

Bosch dishwashers show faults as an E code, and the same fault looks different depending on how old your machine is — E:15, E:31-00 and E:3100 are one code, not three. Siemens and Neff machines are the same appliances under different badges and use the same numbering, which we have checked against their own manuals rather than assumed. Where the code shows on a Bosch

There are four generations of display and they render the same fault differently. Oldest machines have no numeric display at all and signal by indicator lamp — a steady "check water supply" light covers the whole inlet and drainage family, while the same light flashing means a technical fault, and a flashing salt light means the heating element has furred up. Then came two-digit codes with a colon: E:15, E:24, E:18. Current UK machines, including most Series 4, show alternating pairs — the manual describes E:31-00 as lighting up alternately, so the display flicks between E:31 and 00. Newest machines with a text display show it as one four-digit string, E:3100. The mapping is: E:12 is E:20-60 is E:2060; E:14 is E:30-00; E:15 is E:31-00 is E:3100; E:16 is E:34-00; E:18 is E:32-00; E:22 is E:92-40; E:24 is E:61-03; E:25 is E:61-02; E:27 is E:90-01. Note that E:24 and E:25 cross over in the long form and are easy to get backwards. Siemens also confirm that E and F prefixes are the same fault, so F15 is E15.

How to reset a Bosch

Bosch publish one reset and attach it only to the catch-all "a technical fault is present" entry: press off, unplug or switch off the fuse, wait at least two minutes, restore power and switch on. They deliberately do not offer it for the water protection codes. If it recurs, their instruction is to turn off the water tap, pull out the mains plug and contact customer service quoting the code.

E15	The water protection system has activated — there is water in the base of the machine. Turn the tap off and call service. Do not tilt it, whatever else you read.	Stop — call an engineer

E18	Water is not getting in. Bosch publish a full owner procedure including a flow rate you can measure with a jug.	Get it checked
E22	The filters are soiled or blocked. Bosch give a one-line remedy — clean them — and it is genuinely the whole job.	Get it checked
E16	Water is running into the machine continuously, whether or not it is switched on. Bosch give the same instruction as for a leak: tap off, call service.	Stop — call an engineer
E12	The heating element has furred up with limescale. Descaling fixes today; setting the water softener correctly stops it coming back.	Get it checked
E27	The mains voltage is too low. Bosch state plainly that this is not a fault on the appliance — you want an electrician, not an appliance engineer.	Get it checked
