Rangemaster hob fault codes

Rangemaster publish their user guides openly, which is helpful, and they publish two different code tables that disagree with each other, which is not. Before you look up a Rangemaster code, find the guide number for your model — the same characters mean different things across their range.

Where the code shows on a Rangemaster

Codes appear in the zone displays as E followed by a character, or as C followed by a digit. The critical thing is which table applies to your model. The owner-facing Eclipse 90 guide and the service-audience RMB60HPEIGL guide assign different meanings to E3, E5, E6, E8 and EA, so a code read against the wrong table sends you after the wrong fault. The guide number is printed on your user guide, in the form U110602-06.

How to reset a Rangemaster

Rangemaster publish different remedies for different codes rather than one reset, and the difference is deliberate. For some — EA, EC and the C series — their instruction is to switch off and on and carry on using the hob, escalating only if it comes back. For the supply-related codes their published sequence is more specific: switch off, wait until the H residual heat indicator has cleared from every zone, then switch back on. For E1, E6, E7 and E8 there is no reset offered at all; the instruction is to call an authorised service agent.
