Belling range cooker fault codes
Belling induction range cookers show a small set of codes in the hob display, and Belling divide them themselves — some are information, telling you what the hob is doing, and some are alerting you to an issue that needs resolving. Before you look a code up, check which generation of manual you have, because Glen Dimplex publish two induction code tables and they do not carry the same codes.
Where the code shows on a Belling
Codes appear in the hob zone displays rather than on the oven timer. Belling’s 2025-generation table for the 100cm and 110cm electric induction models carries ER03, E1 or E2, E3 or E4, and LO, alongside three symbols that are not letter codes at all: the missing or unsuitable pan symbol, the residual heat symbol and the power boost symbol. The 2022-generation Glen Dimplex induction manual carries a different table, with ER21, ER400, E2, E6, E8 and ER03. If your manual lists E6 and E8, you have the older table. If it lists E3, E4 and LO, you have the newer one. A padlock symbol is different again: that is on the oven timer, not the hob.
How to reset a Belling
Belling publish one catch-all reset, and its wording matters: “For other codes, please switch the appliance off at the wall for a few minutes to let the electronics reset. If the code reappears when the power is restored, please contact our customer support team using the details on the back cover.” Note that it says off at the wall rather than unplug, which is the correct instruction for a hardwired range cooker — Belling’s own phrase elsewhere in the same guide is “the isolator switch on the wall”, and they do not say where on the wall. Two exceptions to reach for the isolator: Belling ask you not to switch the cooker off at the wall before the cooling fan has stopped completely, and where a code has its own published remedy — cooling down for ER03, E1, E2 and ER21, or contacting the electricity board for E3 and E4 — that remedy comes first. Belling’s customer care number is 0344 815 3746.
Most common Belling faults
The Belling codes people look up most.
- E1 or E2Get it checkedOne published row, one meaning. Belling give E1 and E2 together as the over-heat indicator: remove the pans and let the hob cool for about 30 minutes before using it again.
- ER03Usually simple to fixBelling list ER03 as an information code rather than a fault: something is covering the touch control area. Remove it, clean the glass, and the hob works normally again.
- LOUsually simple to fixLO is the hob child lock, released by holding the padlock key for a few seconds, and it is not the padlock on the oven timer. Two locks on one cooker, cleared two ways.
- Hob turns itself off after a long timeUsually simple to fixNot a fault. Belling publish a maximum operating time for every power level as a safety feature, from six hours at level one to ninety minutes at level nine.
