Smeg Portofino CPF9IPBL, 90cm induction fault codes
Manual 91477A595, 66 pages, hosted at doc.smeg.it and linked from the Smeg UK product page. Knob-operated induction hob with a single character display per zone. Carries the troubleshooting table that publishes ERR4, the secondary menu that holds showroom mode, child lock, eco-logic, keep warm and timed light, the 60 degree residual heat symbol, and a maximum cooking duration table for each power level.
Codes on the Portofino CPF9IPBL, 90cm induction follow the same Smeg scheme as the rest of the range. Where a code behaves differently on this generation, the code page says so.
Smeg fault codes
Every published Smeg code. Open a code to see which models and years it applies to.
- SHONot a fault at all. The oven is in showroom mode, so the control panel works and no heating is possible. Smeg publish how to switch it off.Usually simple to fix
- U400Smeg publish six words for this: wrong connection, connect the equipment properly. On a hardwired range cooker that means an electrician rather than anything you can do.Get it checked
- E2Overheating of the inductor on the hob, but E2 is also in Smeg’s pyrolytic oven list. Which display it is on changes the answer completely.Get it checked
- Er03A knob or button is being read as held on. On these knob-operated range cookers that usually means a knob kept turned to A too long. Release it, then clean the hob as Smeg say.Usually simple to fix
- E6Power failure to the power board. Smeg publish a timed remedy rather than a flick of the switch: turn the appliance off for a full five minutes.Get it checked
- E5The hob has judged the mains voltage signal invalid. Smeg say to check the supply voltage, which on a hardwired cooker is an electrician’s job rather than yours.Get it checked
- EAA power circuit board error on the induction hob. Rangemaster publish an EA too, describing something different, so check which brand’s table you are reading.Get it checked
- ERR4The pyrolytic door lock has not attached to the door, often because the door was opened while it was locking. Smeg publish a real owner remedy.Get it checked
- E8The cooling fan is running too fast or too slowly. Smeg publish no owner remedy for this one, and the usual first sign of it is noise.Get it checked
- Pyrolytic oven codesSmeg publish ten pyrolytic oven codes and confirm every one needs an engineer, but they do not say what any of them mean. We are not inventing meanings.Get it checked
- E9Smeg name the part outright: the inductor temperature sensor is defective. It is the sensor that makes the hob’s own over-temperature protection possible.Get it checked
