Alpha E60 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it

What E60 means
E60 is the pump fault code on the current Alpha range. The appliance either cannot see the pump running at all, or is seeing it run without producing the flow it expects. Modern pumps are electronically commutated and report their own status back to the control board, so this code can mean an electrical fault in the pump, a mechanical seizure, or a genuine flow problem that the pump is reporting honestly. The distinction matters because two of those are a pump replacement and one is not. A pump that has seized after a summer of standing is the classic version, and it often frees briefly if the shaft is turned by hand, which is why an appliance can appear to recover and then fail again a day later. Do not read that as the fault clearing. A pump that has seized once has told you what it is going to do.

What to try yourself
Check the system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 bar cold. A pump cannot move water that is not there, and low pressure will produce this code on its own.
Open every thermostatic radiator valve fully and check the service valves on the pipework below the appliance are open.
Reset once and listen carefully at the appliance during the first thirty seconds. A healthy pump makes a low steady hum. Silence, or a buzz without the hum, both point at the pump.
If the code returns, book an engineer rather than resetting repeatedly. Running the appliance without circulation is what turns this into an overheat fault and then into a heat exchanger bill.
