Candy dishwasher fault codes
Candy dishwashers use a short list of E codes, and the emphasis is on short. The current manuals document six — E2, E3, E4, E8, E18 and E21 — and the 2018 to 2019 generation added a grouped E5/E6/E7/Ef/EL electronic fault, which is far fewer than the tables you will find elsewhere. Hoover machines built on the same platform use the same codes, because they are the same manufacturer. One caveat before you read on: Candy also sell Midea-built machines under their badge — the Brava CDPH, CDIH and CMIH slimlines and the CP tabletop — and those show A10, A20, F30 or E10, E20, E30 instead. If that is what your display says, the codes on this page are not yours. Candy are also the only brand here that tells you exactly how to read a fault on a machine with no display, down to the length of the pause.
Where the code shows on a Candy
Models with a display show the code directly. Models without one flash it, and Candy publish the method precisely: every LED flashes together, the number of flashes gives the code, and then there is a five-second pause before it repeats. Two flashes, five seconds, two flashes means error 2. Note that this is a recent addition — the 2018 and 2019 Candy and Hoover manuals say only that the light for the selected cycle blinks rapidly with an intermittent audio signal, with no count at all, so on an older machine there is nothing to count. Some models with a text display show CHECK WATER or NO WATER with a short audio signal instead of a code. The Midea-built Candy machines (CDPH, CDIH, CMIH, CP) are different again: a display shows A10, A20 and F30 or E10, E20 and E30, and without a display every LED flashes once, twice or three times every three seconds for the same three faults.
How to reset a Candy
Candy’s published reset, from the "any other code" row of the current manuals: turn off and unplug the dishwasher, wait a minute, turn it on and restart a programme; if the error occurs again, contact an authorised service centre. For a fault that stops a running programme they have you switch off with the ON/OFF button, check the water supply is open, the drain pipe is not bent and the siphon and filters are not clogged, then set the programme again. Candy are blunt about the limits of that: if the appliance breaks down or stops working properly, switch it off, turn off the water supply and do not tamper with it, with repairs carried out by an approved service agent using genuine parts only.
