Bosch E106 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Bosch name this code and never say what it means. The one thing they do tell you is that the microwave still works, which on a combination oven is worth knowing.
Take care
What E106 means
E106 is a small but instructive case. It appears in exactly one Bosch document — the manual for a compact oven with microwave from around 2011 to 2014 — in a sentence that groups it with two codes they do define. Their wording is that with error messages E101, E104 and E106, you can still operate the microwave.
E101 and E104 are given a meaning elsewhere in the same family of manuals: the temperature sensor has failed. E106 is given none, by Bosch or by anyone else, and neither the Neff nor the Siemens version of the manual mentions the code at all. We have not assigned it one. What Bosch do publish about it is genuinely useful even without a definition.
On a combination appliance the microwave function survives this fault, which is the difference between an appliance you cannot use and one you can use for part of what you bought it for while a repair is arranged. Their instruction for any E message on these ovens is to press the clock button and then reset the clock, which clears the message, and to call if it returns.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch publish no cause for this code | They name it once, in a list of codes that leave the microwave usable, and say nothing else about it in any document we could find. | Common |
| A fault in the conventional oven side of a combination appliance | Implied rather than stated. Bosch group it with two temperature sensor codes and note the microwave is unaffected, which narrows where the problem sits. | Occasional |
What to try yourself
Press the clock button and then reset the clock. Bosch give this as the way to cancel any E message on these appliances.
Try the microwave function on its own. Bosch specifically state it remains usable with this code present, so you are not without an appliance.
If the message returns, call the after-sales service and quote E106. There is no owner remedy published beyond the reset.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Bosch E106
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.

Impossible to price honestly without a diagnosis, since Bosch have not said what has failed. Expect a call-out of £90 to £130 before any parts.
