Bosch Error codea plain-English guide
Bosch UK publish no oven fault code list. Their Error Codes link redirects to itself, and their troubleshooting tool returns nothing while their sibling brands answer in full.
Take care
What this means
This page exists because the absence is the answer, and because nobody else will tell you. Bosch UK’s oven support page carries a section headed Error Codes with one item under it, my oven is displaying an error code. That link permanently redirects back to the page you clicked it from. Every one of the ten links beside it — not switching on, not heating up, fan not working, child lock, pyrolytic cleaning and the rest — goes somewhere real.
Only the error code one loops. It goes further than a broken link. Bosch’s site runs the same troubleshooting software that serves Neff and Siemens their oven code database, and on Bosch it answers every request with no information found. So the infrastructure is there, pointed at nothing. What that means practically is that if a Bosch oven shows you a code, the manufacturer has published nothing to help you decode it, and any website presenting a Bosch oven code table has no Bosch source to have taken it from.
What Bosch manuals do say is worth having, and it is the same thing across the group: a message beginning with D or E means the electronics have detected a fault, restart once, and if it returns, call and quote the exact message.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch UK publish no code reference for ovens at all | Established by checking their error code link, their troubleshooting endpoint and the rest of their oven support estate. The heading exists and the content behind it does not. | Common |
| A one-off electronic fault that a single restart clears | What their manuals build the whole remedy around, telling you the message simply disappears if the fault was transient. | Common |
| A genuine fault the digits identify to an engineer | The reason Bosch ask you to quote the exact message when booking. The code maps to a subsystem in service documentation they do not release. | Common |
What to try yourself
Write the code down exactly, including whether it begins with D or E. Bosch document both prefixes and most code lists on the internet do not know the D range exists.
Restart the appliance once — off and on at the oven’s own button, or press the clock button on models that have one, then reset the time if it has gone.
If the message clears, carry on. Bosch treat a code that does not return as a one-off and expect no further action.
If it comes back, book it and quote the code. Do not keep resetting: Bosch offer exactly one attempt before routing to service, and repetition tells nobody anything.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Bosch oven
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
What it costs to fix
Typical repair cost
Depends on the cause
Time on site
10 minutes
Not answerable from a code nobody has defined. A Bosch diagnostic call-out is typically £90 to £130 before parts, and having the exact code ready is the only thing that speeds it up.
Typical UK prices including parts and labour, updated September 2026. Your quote may differ.

- Not heatingGet it checkedBosch answer this by naming the heating element and telling you to book a repair. Their own manuals give three free causes their website leaves out entirely.Related: same brand
- E106Get it checkedBosch name this code and never say what it means. The one thing they do tell you is that the microwave still works, which on a combination oven is worth knowing.Related: same brand

Common questions
I found a Bosch oven error code list on another site. Can I trust it?
Be careful with it. Bosch UK publish no such list, so whatever that site has, it did not come from Bosch. Some of it may be Neff or Siemens content relabelled, which is a reasonable guess but not a fact, and some codes circulating widely — E118, E512, E305, E601 among them — we could trace to no manufacturer source under any badge.
Do Neff and Siemens codes apply to my Bosch?
We cannot say they do, and we are not going to imply it. The three brands share a platform, but sharing a platform is a fact about manufacturing rather than about what any of them has published. Neff and Siemens genuinely do share one database, character for character. Bosch is not in it.
How long should I leave the power off?
Approximately ten seconds is the only duration BSH publish for clearing a fault message on an oven; the other oven figure they print is approximately twenty seconds, for leaving demo mode in the older compact-oven manuals. Their manuals send you to the circuit breaker in the fuse box, while allowing that some ovens are fitted with a plug — pull that instead if yours has one within reach. The thirty seconds quoted all over the internet comes from BSH’s tumble dryer documentation.
Technical review
Not reviewed by an engineer
No engineer has read this page. Severity follows what the manufacturer publishes, and we would rather tell you that than let a byline imply a sign-off.
Sources and how we verified this
We establish the facts from the sources below and then write the explanation ourselves. We do not copy manufacturer wording and we do not host their manuals.
- Manufacturer support portal
- Manufacturer technical and service documentation
This page has not been reviewed by an engineer, and we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise. The severity rating follows what the manufacturer publishes: where they say isolate the appliance and call someone, so do we.
