Neff 000 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Three zeros on the display mean two completely different things depending on whether they are flashing, and Neff answer the question wrongly on their own website.
Before you start
What 000 means
A Neff oven showing 000 is telling you one of two things, and the difference is whether it is flashing. Flashing zeros with the colon mean there has been a power cut and the clock needs resetting — that is all, and Neff file resetting the time as one of their answers to an oven that does not heat up, so set it before you conclude anything has failed.
Steady 000 in the temperature display means the automatic switch-off has operated: the oven has stopped heating by itself after running for a long period without anyone touching it, which is a safety feature rather than a fault. Pressing any button clears it. Neither answer comes from Neff’s current website, and that is worth being blunt about.
Their support database lists a menu entry for flashing 000 and returns two answers about temperature, neither of which mentions the display at all. The correct answers are in a Neff manual for a compact oven from over a decade ago. So the manufacturer had the right explanation, published it, and then replaced it on their website with text that does not address the question.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| A power cut has reset the clock | The flashing version. Neff’s manual gives the cause as a power cut in two words, and the remedy simply as resetting the clock. | Common |
| The automatic switch-off has operated | The steady version. The oven stops heating after a long unattended run, and Neff clear it by pressing a button rather than by any reset procedure. | Common |
| The supply was interrupted by a tripped breaker rather than an outage | Indistinguishable from a power cut as far as the oven is concerned, but worth knowing because a breaker that trips repeatedly is its own problem. | Occasional |
What to try yourself
Look at whether the zeros are flashing or steady. That single observation decides which of two unrelated answers applies to you.
If they are flashing, set the time of day. Neff treat a flashing clock as a diagnosable display state rather than a cosmetic one, and their own troubleshooting files reset the time under oven does not heat up.
If they are steady in the temperature display, press any button. Neff’s published remedy for the automatic switch-off is exactly that.
If the clock keeps resetting itself, check whether the breaker serving the cooker circuit is tripping, because that is a supply problem rather than an oven one.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Neff 000
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
