Neff E010 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Technical malfunction, and that is the entirety of what BSH publish. One of four codes sharing a single two-word explanation on discontinued compact ovens.
Take care
What E010 means
BSH group E010, E310, E009 and E309 into one row and give all four the same explanation: technical malfunction. The remedy is to call the after-sales service, and there is no owner step of any kind. It is a thin answer, but it is a published one, and it comes from the same withdrawn table that carries the temperature sensor codes — manuals for compact ovens with microwave from roughly 2011 to 2014, printed under all three BSH badges.
Scope matters as much as meaning here. Current BSH manuals for the successor appliances have dropped this table and gone back to the generic row covering any message beginning with D or E, so if your oven is a recent model these four codes are not documented for it. What this row is genuinely useful for is calibration. When a manufacturer gives four distinct codes one shared two-word description, they are telling you the codes exist to route an engineer rather than to inform you, and that no amount of searching will turn up a more specific answer than the one they printed.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| BSH publish no specific cause for any of the four codes | Their entire description is the phrase technical malfunction, applied identically to E010, E310, E009 and E309 with no attempt to distinguish them. | Common |
| A fault the code identifies to an engineer with service documentation | The reasonable reading of a manufacturer issuing four separate numbers and then declining to differentiate them in the owner manual. | Common |
What to try yourself
Note which of the four codes you actually have. They mean different things to an engineer even though BSH describe them identically to you.
Try one restart, which is BSH’s standard first move for any code on these appliances — press the clock button, or switch off and on, depending on your control type.
Call the after-sales service and quote the code. That is the published remedy and there is no owner-level alternative to it.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Neff E010
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
What it costs to fix
Typical repair cost
Depends on the cause
Time on site
10 minutes
Not answerable from the code, since BSH decline to say what has failed. Budget for a diagnostic call-out of £90 to £130 and ask for a repair price before authorising work.
Typical UK prices including parts and labour, updated September 2026. Your quote may differ.
