Samsung S-01 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
The safety shutoff. Samsung state plainly this is not a system failure — the oven ran at temperature for longer than its limit and stopped itself.

What S-01 means
Samsung publish thresholds for this one, which is unusually generous. The oven switches itself off after continuing to operate at a set temperature for an extended period, and the period depends on how hot it was running: 16 hours under 105°C, 8 hours from 105°C to 240°C, and 4 hours from 245°C to maximum. Their solution field begins with the sentence that matters — this is not a system failure — and then tells you to turn off the oven, remove the food, and try again normally.
There is a small discrepancy worth knowing about. Samsung’s manuals give the lowest band as under 100°C rather than under 105°C, which leaves the five degrees between them undefined in the printed version. The website closes that gap and is self-consistent, so we have used its figures. Practically, this protection exists for the oven left on overnight, the slow cook that overran, or the dial nudged and forgotten. Seeing it after a genuinely long session is the feature working. Seeing it after a normal roast is not, and that is worth raising.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| The oven ran past the time limit for its temperature band | Samsung publish three bands, from 16 hours at low temperatures down to 4 hours at high ones, so a slow cook and a hot roast behave very differently. | Common |
| The oven was left switched on unintentionally | The situation the protection is designed for. An oven left running overnight will reach its limit and stop itself rather than continuing indefinitely. | Common |
What to try yourself
Turn the oven off and remove the food, which is Samsung’s own instruction and the sensible order to do it in.
Try again normally. Samsung treat this as needing no reset, no cooling period and no service, because nothing has failed.
If it appears on cooks well inside the published limits, note the temperature and how long the oven had been running, and raise it with Samsung — that pattern is not what the feature is for.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Samsung S-01
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
