Ferroli F07 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Flue gas temperature has stayed above 95°C for more than two minutes. Three of these in a day becomes a permanent A04 lockout.

What F07 means
Ferroli define F07 precisely: the exhaust gas temperature has exceeded 95°C for two minutes or more. As an F code it clears itself once the temperature falls back, which is why it can occur repeatedly without anyone noticing. The escalation is the part to pay attention to. Three F07 events within twenty-four hours are promoted to A04, a flue gas fault that is a permanent lockout. So an appliance that suddenly stops on A04 has almost always been quietly logging F07 for some time first. A condensing boiler is designed to send comparatively cool gas up the flue, because capturing that heat is the whole basis of its efficiency. Persistently hot flue gas means heat is not passing into the water where it belongs — usually because scale or sludge is coating the heat exchanger, or because circulation is too slow to carry heat away. It also matters for the flue itself: plastic flue systems are rated for normal condensing temperatures, and sustained overtemperature is outside what they are built for.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| Heat exchanger scaled or fouled | A deposit layer insulates the metal from the water so heat leaves through the flue instead. Progressive over months and common in hard water areas. | Common |
| Poor circulation | Water moving too slowly picks up less heat per pass. Shares most of its causes with the high limit fault. | Common |
| Flue sensor fault | Ferroli list F45 and F46 separately for a damaged or disconnected flue sensor, but a drifting sensor can produce a false F07 too. | Occasional |
| Appliance overfiring | Gas rate set too high, usually after earlier work. Confirmed with a flue gas analyser, not by inspection. | Rare |

What it costs to fix
Typical repair cost
£140–£1,100
A flue sensor is £140 to £220 fitted. A chemical clean with a magnetic filter is £400 to £750. A heat exchanger descale is £250 to £450, and replacement £700 to £1,100.
