Ferroli boilers fault codes

Ferroli make one distinction that is genuinely more useful than most manufacturers manage, and it is worth learning before you look up any individual code. An A prefix means a permanent shutdown: the appliance has stopped and will stay stopped until somebody presses reset. An F prefix means a temporary shutdown that clears itself automatically as soon as the measured value comes back into range. So an F37 that appears and disappears is the appliance telling you the pressure is marginal, while an A01 is a hard lockout that needs intervention. Some faults escalate from one to the other — three F07 events inside twenty-four hours becomes an A04, and that promotion from temporary to permanent is the appliance saying a recurring problem has become a real one.

Where the code shows on a Ferroli

The code flashes on the display and clears by itself when normal operation resumes, which means an F-prefix fault can come and go without anyone seeing it. If the appliance is behaving oddly but shows nothing, that is worth knowing. On the Optimax and Modena ranges the code alternates with the flow temperature. Older Ferroli appliances indicate faults by LED pattern rather than by a numeric display, with the legend printed inside the case.

How to reset a Ferroli

Press the reset button for about one second — on most Ferroli appliances it is marked R or shown as a flame with a cross. Only A-prefix faults need this; F-prefix faults clear on their own and pressing reset does nothing for them. If the appliance locks out repeatedly on the same A code, the fault is real and further resets simply repeat a failed sequence.
