Under two years
Both parts and labour are covered by LG’s standard UK warranty on washers, which runs to 24 months.
Go to LG directly rather than an independent repairer, or you will pay for something you need not.
Between two and ten years
If the fault is the Direct Drive motor, the part should be covered by the extended motor warranty. The labour will be chargeable, because the standard warranty has expired.
Ask specifically whether the failed part falls under the Direct Drive motor cover, and get the labour quoted separately.
Over ten years
No cover, unless yours is one of the models LG sold with twenty-year motor cover. Worth checking your original paperwork.

What LE means
LG describe LE as being displayed when the tub fails to spin, and are specific about why: the motor cannot operate properly because the machine has been overloaded, or because a foreign object is stuck in the tub. That ordering matters, because it puts two free explanations ahead of the expensive one. This is also the code where LG’s Direct Drive warranty becomes relevant, and it is widely misunderstood. LG do offer a ten-year warranty on the Direct Drive motor, and twenty years on some models. But their own UK terms are explicit that this extended cover is parts only, applies to specific parts only, and that the customer will be charged for labour once the standard product warranty has expired. The standard warranty on LG washers in the UK is 24 months for both parts and labour. So on a machine between two and ten years old, a genuine motor failure means the motor itself should be free while the visit and the fitting are not. That is a considerably better position than most brands, but it is not the free repair many owners expect when they hear "ten-year warranty".

What to try yourself
Take out about a third of the washing and try again. LG put overloading at the top of their own cause list and it costs nothing to eliminate.
If that does not clear it, unplug the machine, empty the drum completely and turn it by hand. It should spin freely and coast to a stop.
Unplug it rather than switching it off at the panel. You are putting a hand into a drum the machine believes it is trying to turn.Feel around the bottom of the door seal and shine a torch between drum and seal, looking for a bra wire or a coin. This is the second cause LG name and it is the cheapest to fix.
Find the machine’s age from the serial number or your receipt before you ring anyone. Between two and ten years old, the Direct Drive motor part should be covered even though the labour will not be, and knowing that before you call changes the conversation.
If the drum turns freely and the code persists, stop using the machine and book a repair. LG’s own instruction for a persistent LE is to unplug the power cord and contact their service centre.

Does the ten-year motor warranty mean a free repair?
No, and this is the part most owners get wrong. LG’s UK terms state the extended cover is parts only, on specific parts only, and that the customer will be charged for labour once the product warranty has expired. The standard warranty is 24 months. So after two years you get the motor and pay for the visit.
What counts as the Direct Drive motor for warranty purposes?
LG UK say "specific parts only" without listing them on the UK page. LG documentation elsewhere enumerates the stator and rotor. It is worth asking the engineer to confirm in writing which part failed and whether it falls inside the cover, before the work is authorised.
Are drum bearings covered?
LG do not list bearings among the covered parts anywhere I can point you to, and they publish no bearing fault code at all. Assume bearings are not covered by the motor warranty, and note that bearing wear shows up as noise rather than as LE.
What does Direct Drive actually change?
The motor is bolted directly to the back of the drum instead of driving it through a belt, so there is no belt to snap and no carbon brushes to wear out. Two of the most common failures on conventional machines simply do not exist here — which is also why LG are willing to warrant it for a decade.
