AEG dishwashers fault codes

AEG dishwashers report faults as an i followed by two characters, and the same codes appear on Zanussi and Electrolux machines because all three run one support system — the articles on the three websites are the same articles with the badge swapped. Before you look anything up, check whether you have a full-size machine or a compact tabletop one, because they use two completely different schemes and the codes do not translate.

Where the code shows on a AEG

Full-size AEG dishwashers use i-codes. Compact and tabletop models use E-codes instead, and those are a separate system — an E3 on a compact has nothing to do with any i-code. Worse, on compacts the meaning shifts between freestanding and integrated models: E3 is a heating fault on a freestanding one and a water leak on an integrated one. On machines without a numeric display the fault is signalled as a count of beeps or flashes, and the count is the value of the second character, so i10 is one, i20 is two, i30 is three and iF0 is fifteen. AEG do not publish how to count them, and which light does the flashing varies by model — some use the end-of-cycle light, newer ones use the MY TIME bar.

How to reset a AEG

Turn the machine off at the socket, wait, and restart. Worth knowing: the AEG manual closes its whole fault-code table with a single blanket instruction — do not use the appliance until the problem has been completely fixed, unplug it, and do not plug it in again until you are certain it operates correctly. That covers every code equally, which makes it a legal position rather than a per-fault judgement. The individual support articles are more discriminating, and this site follows those.
