Beko Er 1 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Communication errors, Er 1 to Er 7. Also the place to explain how Beko’s oven codes work, because the band is all the meaning there is.
Take care
What Er 1 means
Beko’s first band covers Er 1 to Er 7 and is headed communication errors, meaning parts of the oven have stopped talking to each other rather than any cooking component having failed. Their solution is the sentence attached to eleven of the twelve bands: consult an authorized service for the error to be resolved. One code inside this band is treated differently — Er 5, the meat probe communication error, which Beko print separately with an owner workaround and which has its own page here.
For the other six there is nothing published to try. This is also the right place to explain the shape of Beko’s oven documentation, because it is unusual. They publish a code table in only three of their thirty-four UK oven manuals, and those three are precisely the three pyrolytic models. None of their four hundred-odd support pages contains the words error, fault or code. And the table they do publish is banded rather than enumerated, so twelve category names cover ninety-nine codes and no individual number is ever defined.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| A communication link inside the oven has failed | What the band name describes. Modern ovens run more than one control board and the connections between them can drop. | Common |
| A peripheral has stopped responding to the control board | Er 5 is the documented example, where the meat probe stops communicating. The other codes in the band presumably cover other links. | Common |
| Beko publish no meaning for the individual codes | The band is the smallest unit of meaning they offer. Er 1 and Er 7 read identically in everything Beko have published. | Common |
What to try yourself
Check whether your code is actually Er 5. Beko give that one an owner workaround — remove the meat probe and cook without it — and give the other six nothing.
If you have a meat probe fitted, unplug it and see whether the code clears, since a probe is the one peripheral in this band Beko name.
Turn the function knobs off and back to the position you want. Beko publish no power-cycle reset for an oven at all, so this is the nearest thing available.
Contact an authorised service, quoting the exact number. Beko’s published answer for this band is nothing else.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko Er 1
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
What it costs to fix
Typical repair cost
£90–£220

Depends entirely on which link has failed, which Beko do not identify. Budget for a diagnostic visit before any repair is priced.
