Beko Er 86 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Internet connection errors on HomeWhiz models. The one band in Beko’s table where the fault costs you nothing — the oven still cooks.
Before you start
What Er 86 means
Er 86 to Er 88 are headed internet connection errors, gated in Beko’s own table with the note in ovens with HomeWhiz feature. HomeWhiz is their app connectivity, and this is the only band in the whole table where a fault has no effect on cooking. An oven that cannot reach your network is an oven that cannot be controlled from a phone, and that is the entire consequence. It still heats, still holds a temperature, still runs a cleaning cycle.
That distinction matters because Beko give this band the same answer they give to a failed heating element — consult an authorized service for the error to be resolved — which is a wildly disproportionate response to a Wi-Fi problem and would lead anyone taking the table at face value to book a call-out for something that may well be their router. Before doing anything of the sort, treat it as a network problem, because that is what it is. Check the connection the way you would for any other device that has dropped off your network.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| The oven has lost its connection to your network | The obvious first reading, and one that has nothing to do with the appliance. A router restart or a changed password produces it. | Common |
| Weak signal where the oven is installed | A built-in oven sits inside a run of units surrounded by metal, which is not a favourable place for a wireless connection. | Common |
| A fault in the connectivity hardware | What is left after the network has been eliminated, and the only version of this where Beko’s instruction to call makes sense. | Occasional |
What to try yourself
Check the oven still cooks. It should — this band affects connectivity only, so if the heating has also stopped you are looking at two separate things.
Treat it as a network problem first. Restart your router, confirm the Wi-Fi password has not changed, and check other devices in the kitchen are connecting.
If the network is fine, run the connection setup again from the HomeWhiz app. Beko’s oven manuals say nothing about HomeWhiz beyond naming this band, so the app’s own prompts are the only published procedure.
Only call an authorised service if the network is demonstrably fine. Beko’s published answer is to call, but that is the same answer they give for a failed element.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko Er 86
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.

Nothing in the usual case, since this is normally a network problem. A connectivity module fault would mean a visit, but check the router first.
