Beko Er 42 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Oven component errors, Er 42 to Er 58. Seventeen codes under the vaguest heading in Beko’s table — a catch-all inside a catch-all.
Take care
What Er 42 means
This is the widest band Beko publish and the least informative. Seventeen codes, from Er 42 to Er 58, all headed oven component errors, all answered with the same sentence: consult an authorized service for the error to be resolved. Consider what that name is doing. The other eleven bands at least name something — sensors, heating, the door, the timer card, the steam system. Oven component errors names nothing at all, because every fault in the table is a component error of some kind. It reads as the bucket everything that did not fit elsewhere was put into, which makes it the least diagnosable band in a table that was never very diagnosable to begin with.
The practical consequence is that we can tell you almost nothing beyond what the display already says, and the symptom is carrying all the information. What has actually stopped working — the fan, the light, one cooking function, the whole appliance — is more useful to the engineer than the number, so note it before you call and give them both.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| A component fault Beko decline to categorise further | Seventeen codes share a name that describes nothing specific, which suggests a bucket for faults that did not fit the other eleven bands. | Common |
| A fault the number identifies to an engineer | The individual code maps to something specific in service documentation Beko do not release, which is why quoting it exactly matters. | Common |
What to try yourself
Write down the exact number. With seventeen codes sharing one description, the number is the only thing distinguishing your fault from sixteen others.
Note precisely what has stopped working — the fan, the light, one function, the whole oven. That symptom is more useful than the band name.
Turn the function knobs off and back to the position you want, which is the nearest thing to a reset Beko publish for an oven.
Call an authorised service with both the number and the symptom. Beko publish no owner remedy for any code in this band.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko Er 42
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
What it costs to fix

Impossible to narrow from the band, since Beko name nothing. Budget for a diagnostic visit and get the repair quoted separately before authorising it.
