Stoves range cooker fault codes
Stoves induction range cookers show very few genuine fault codes. The current published table contains only two — ER03 and E2 — and everything else on it is a symbol telling you which function is running. Older Stoves manuals from 2022 carry a longer and completely different table, so the first thing to establish is which of the two your cooker was documented under.
Where the code shows on a Stoves
Codes and symbols appear in the small zone displays on the induction hob, not on the oven timer. Stoves publish two incompatible tables. The 2025-generation guides for the 100cm and 110cm electric induction range cookers list only ER03 and E2 as codes, with A, P, H, the padlock, the pan symbol and the function symbols listed separately as symbols. The 2022-generation manual for the Richmond, Precision and Sterling Deluxe models lists ER21, ER400, E2, E6, E8 and ER03 in a troubleshooting table with Problem, Possible Cause and Solution columns. If your manual has those three columns, you are on the older table. Separately, the oven timer has its own display, its own child lock and its own symbols, and nothing on the hob table applies to it.
How to reset a Stoves
Stoves publish one catch-all reset and it is worth quoting exactly: for other codes, switch the appliance off at the wall for a few minutes to let the electronics reset, and if the code reappears when the power is restored, contact the customer support team using the details on the back cover. Note that it says off at the wall rather than unplug — a 100cm or 110cm range cooker of this type is normally hardwired to a cooker switch rather than plugged in, so the wall switch is the isolation point. One important exception applies: Stoves also publish that you should not switch the cooker off at the wall before the cooling fan has stopped completely, so if the fan is still running after cooking, let it finish before you isolate anything.
Most common Stoves faults
The Stoves codes people look up most.
- HUsually simple to fixStoves publish H as a residual heat indicator: the glass is still hot. It shows above about 60°C and clears below about 55°C on their documents.
- ER03Usually simple to fixStoves publish ER03 as an obstruction indicator that sounds a continuous tone as well as showing on the display. Something is covering the touch controls, or the glass needs cleaning.
- E2Get it checkedStoves publish E2 as an over-heat indicator on current guides and as overheating of the induction coil on the 2022 manual. Remove the pans and let the hob cool for about 30 minutes.
- E8Get it checkedE8 is a 2022-generation Stoves code for a fan blocked or faulty. Their published remedy is to check the fan inlet at the rear of the appliance.
