Beko E84 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it

Usually simple to fixWashing machineHomeWhiz-connected models only. Published in the BM3WT3741 and BM1WU3721 diagnostic readout table.Last updated

A Bluetooth pairing failure for the HomeWhiz app. Your machine washes perfectly well without it, and only connected models can show this at all.

Before you start

This one is usually safe to look at yourself. Do not remove any panel that is held on with screws or clips — everything below is done from the outside of the washing machine.

What E84 means

E84 is the odd one out in Beko’s table because it is not a washing fault in any sense. Beko print the remedy as "BLE connection cannot be established. Check it, try connecting it", cross-referenced to their own HomeWhiz feature and remote control section, and they merge the cause cell so there is no separate explanation. BLE is Bluetooth Low Energy, which is how the machine talks to a phone during the initial pairing before it moves onto your wireless network.

So the code means the machine and the app could not find each other. Nothing about the wash is affected. The drum turns, the water heats, the cycle completes; you simply cannot see it on your phone. This only exists on connected models, which is a small minority of the Beko range, and if your machine has no HomeWhiz badge and no wireless indicator it cannot produce this code at all.

Worth saying plainly because a code in a fault table looks alarming, and the honest answer is that it belongs in the same category as a television that has lost its wifi rather than one that will not switch on.

What causes it

Causes of the Beko E84 fault code, most common first
CauseWhat is actually happeningHow likely
Phone Bluetooth off or out of rangePairing happens over Bluetooth before wifi takes over, so the phone has to be next to the machine.Common
App not in pairing mode, or permissions refusedHomeWhiz needs Bluetooth and location permissions on most phones to discover an appliance.Common
Machine already paired to another phoneA previous pairing can block a new one until it is cleared from the machine or the old device.Occasional

What to try yourself

  1. Check Bluetooth is on in your phone settings and that you are standing next to the machine rather than in another room.

  2. Open HomeWhiz and check it has been granted Bluetooth and location permissions. Most pairing failures are a refused permission rather than a fault.

  3. Close the app fully and reopen it, then start the pairing process again from the beginning.

  4. If the machine was previously paired to a different phone, remove it from that device first.

  5. If it still will not pair, use the machine normally. Nothing about the wash depends on the app.

Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko E84

We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.

What we check instead

Sources and how we verified this

We establish the facts from the sources below and then write the explanation ourselves. We do not copy manufacturer wording and we do not host their manuals.

  • Manufacturer technical and service documentation

This page has not been reviewed by an engineer, and we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise. The severity rating follows what the manufacturer publishes: where they say isolate the appliance and call someone, so do we.
