Beko EXX fault codewhat it means and how to fix it

Beko print EXX literally, as a published catch-all for every E-code they have not listed. If your Beko washer-dryer shows an E-code that is not E02 or E03, this is the official answer.

Take care

Some of this is safe to check yourself, but the repair itself is not. If the fault comes back after one reset, stop resetting it and get a qualified appliance engineer to look at the Beko properly.

Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko EXX

We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.

What EXX means

This is an unusual thing for a manufacturer to publish and a genuinely useful one. In the washer-dryer manual covering the BMM5DFO5741W, BMDSC7545B and WTS210, Beko print a row in their fault code table whose display string is literally "EXX", with the fault type given as "Other faults" and the remedy "Turn the selector knob to OFF, unplug, and contact service as soon as possible".

They are telling you in advance that the table is incomplete and that everything not on it routes to the same answer. So if you own one of these machines and it shows E07, or E11, or anything else with a leading zero that is not E02 or E03, the honest answer is not that the code is secret or that a repair site knows something Beko do not.

The answer is that Beko have deliberately not published a meaning for it, and their own instruction is to stop using the machine, unplug it and call service. That is worth knowing because it saves you working through a third-party list of Beko codes that was reconstructed from a different platform entirely, and applying a remedy for a fault your machine is not reporting.

What it costs to fix

Typical repair cost

£70–£120

A diagnostic visit is typically £70 to £120, usually offset against the repair if you go ahead. There is no way to narrow the cost without knowing the underlying fault.

Common questions about Beko EXX

I found my code on a repair site. Why does Beko not publish it?

We cannot tell you why, only what they publish. Bear in mind that third-party Beko code lists are heavily contaminated — many are reconstructed from other platforms, and Beko run two incompatible code sets themselves. A meaning from a list that does not match your machine is worse than no meaning at all.

Can I just switch it off and try again?

Beko do not offer that for this row. Their printed instruction is to turn the selector to OFF, unplug the power cord and contact service "as soon as possible", and there is no retry in it. Write down the exact code before you ring, because the code is what the engineer works from even though the owner manual does not publish it.

Does EXX mean the machine is beyond repair?

No. It means Beko have not published an owner-facing meaning for what your machine is reporting and want it looked at. The fuller code set that the BW1O manuals print — E05, E11, EE0, EE1, EA1, EA2, the Eb family and EC1/EC2 — belongs to the same platform, so if your code is one of those, that page is the closest thing Beko publish.

Sources and how we verified this

We establish the facts from the sources below and then write the explanation ourselves. We do not copy manufacturer wording and we do not host their manuals.

  • Manufacturer technical and service documentation

This page has not been reviewed by an engineer, and we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise. The severity rating follows what the manufacturer publishes: where they say isolate the appliance and call someone, so do we.
