Hotpoint washing machines fault codes

Hotpoint washing machines report faults as an F followed by two digits, and Hotpoint publish the full list of fourteen. Their machines are the same as Indesit under the badge, so the codes are identical across both brands. One of them, F06, carries a safety recall that is still open — if your machine was built between October 2014 and February 2018, read that page before you do anything else.

Where the code shows on a Hotpoint

Machines with a digital display show the code directly. Machines without one signal it through the indicator lights, and this is where most guidance online goes wrong: Hotpoint’s own tool asks which LEDs are lit, in sequence, and offers separate horizontal and vertical panel layouts. It is a pattern, not a flash count. Tables telling you that five flashes means F05 do not match how the manufacturer reads these machines.

How to reset a Hotpoint

Hotpoint give one reset and are specific about it: disconnect the appliance from the mains for a minimum of two minutes, reconnect, wait thirty seconds, then try again. They offer it for F01 and F18 only. On the codes where they do not offer it, repeating it is not going to help.
