Mira electric shower fault codes
Mira publish thirteen fault codes for the Advance, lettered A to M, and none of them appears on a screen. They are encoded in two lights, and reading one takes two observations.
Where the code shows on a Mira
There is no display on a Mira Advance. What there is is a Start/Stop light and a Status light, and the fault is carried in the combination of the two: whether Start/Stop is flashing, on or off, and what colour sequence the Status light is running. Red on its own, red and yellow, red and blue, red and white, yellow, yellow and blue, and white are all distinct indications. Crucially, one indication can mean several different faults, and Mira resolve that with a second step — press and hold the Start/Stop button and note the Status sequence again. The second reading is what tells a flow valve fault from a thermistor fault from a cover PCB failure. If you have found a Mira code letter somewhere without the colours attached to it, it is not enough to identify your fault.
How to reset a Mira
Mira ask for a power cycle at the pull cord or isolator: switch off, then on, then start the shower and watch what the lights do. Their commissioning sequence is explicit that the shower should then be run for at least five minutes at showering temperature to confirm the temperature holds, rather than judged on whether it starts. The part that is specific to this brand, and that causes a fault code of its own, is how you switch it off. The Advance runs a phased shutdown after you press Start/Stop, and Mira instruct in capitals that you do not isolate the power at the pull cord until the water has stopped and the lights have stopped pulsing. Cutting the supply mid-shutdown is what produces code M, and Mira consider it likely enough that telling the customer about it is a printed commissioning step.
Most common Mira faults
The Mira codes people look up most.
- AGet it checkedFlashing red on the Status light. Mira group three water-supply problems under this one code: no supply, low pressure, or a blockage somewhere in the outlet.
- DGet it checkedFlashing red and yellow. The outlet thermistor has seen a temperature above what Mira allow, and the shower has stopped rather than deliver it.
- MUsually simple to fixFlashing white. Not a breakdown — the shower was switched off at the cord before it finished its shutdown, and it will not restart properly until it settles.
- LGet it checkedStatus light off entirely, with Start/Stop off. Mira call this an electrical fault and the action is to check power to the shower.
