Beko Er 28 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
Meat probe errors, Er 28 to Er 31. Beko give this band no workaround, which is the opposite of how they treat the probe code in Er 5.
Take care
What Er 28 means
Beko document the meat probe twice and treat the two entries very differently, which is the interesting thing about this band. Er 5 sits in the communication band and gets a workaround: remove the probe, turn the function knob off, carry on cooking without it. Er 28 to Er 31 are headed meat probe errors and get the standard sentence, consult an authorized service for the error to be resolved, with no owner action of any kind. Beko do not explain the difference and we are not going to invent a reason for it.
What is worth taking from the pairing is practical. If the probe is the only thing that has stopped working, the appliance is not out of action — a probe is an accessory in a socket, not part of the cooking system — so there is no reason to be without an oven while a repair is arranged, whichever of the two codes you have. Before booking anything, unplug the probe and see whether the oven behaves normally without it, since that is free and tells you where the fault lives.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| The meat probe or its socket has failed | The reasonable reading of a band Beko name only as meat probe errors. Probes take heat, handling and cleaning, all of which is hard on a fine sensor. | Common |
| Damage along the probe lead or at the connector | A break near the plug reports the same way as a failed sensor and is the part of a probe most likely to be stressed. | Common |
| Beko publish no distinction between the four codes | Er 28 through Er 31 share one band name and one solution sentence, so nothing published narrows it beyond the category. | Common |
What to try yourself
Unplug the meat probe once the cavity is cool and see whether the oven works normally without it. That establishes whether anything but the probe is affected.
Look at the plug and along the lead for kinking, scorching or a cracked sheath before assuming the sensor itself has gone.
Push the probe fully home and try once more, since a connector that was not properly seated is the cheapest explanation available.
Contact an authorised service if it persists. Unlike Er 5, Beko publish no workaround for this band, but the oven remains usable without the probe.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko Er 28
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
