Beko Er 5 fault codewhat it means and how to fix it
A meat probe communication error, and the only Beko oven code with anything for you to do. Remove the probe and you can carry on cooking.
Take care
What Er 5 means
Er 5 is unique in Beko’s oven documentation. Every other code they publish gets the same answer — consult an authorised service — but this one gets a workaround, and Beko print it separately from the band it belongs to in order to say so. Their text is that this is a meat probe communication error, that you should contact the authorised service to be able to cook again with the meat probe, and that in the meantime you can remove the meat probe, set the function selection knob to off, and then continue cooking normally without it.
Note the structure of that: the repair still needs an engineer, but the appliance is not out of action while you wait. What is slightly odd, and worth knowing, is that Er 5 also falls inside the Er 1 to Er 7 communication errors band printed immediately below it in the same table. Beko print both. That is not a documentation error — it is them singling out the one fault in that range where the owner has an option.
What causes it
| Cause | What is actually happening | How likely |
|---|---|---|
| The meat probe or its connection has failed | Beko describe it as a communication error, which places the problem in the link between the probe and the oven rather than in the cooking system. | Common |
| The probe is not properly seated in its socket | Worth eliminating first, since a partly inserted connector produces a communication failure that costs nothing to rule out. | Occasional |
| Damage to the probe lead | Probes take heat, handling and cleaning, and a break near the connector reports the same way as a failed sensor. | Occasional |
What to try yourself
Remove the meat probe from the oven, which is the first part of Beko’s published workaround.
Set the function selection knob to off. Beko specify this step, and it is what lets the oven return to normal operation.
Carry on cooking without the probe. Beko state plainly that this is possible, so the appliance is usable while the repair is arranged.
Before you book anything, push the probe fully back into its socket and try once. A loose connector is the cheapest possible explanation.
Get a qualified appliance engineer to look at your Beko Er 5
We do not pass enquiries to a repair firm, so there is no form here. When you book a qualified appliance engineer, tell them the make, the model and the exact code or message on the display, and ask whether they carry parts for this make — that is what turns one visit into a repair rather than a quote.
