Alpha E-Tec Plus fault codes
Built 2016 onwards
The volume seller and the range most of the current code set was written for. Aluminium heat exchanger, which is why circulation faults matter more here than on a stainless appliance.
Codes on the E-Tec Plus follow the same Alpha scheme as the rest of the range. Where a code behaves differently on this generation, the code page says so.
Fault codes
All Alpha codes that apply to this model.
- E01The appliance tried to light and could not confirm a flame, so it has locked out. In winter a frozen condensate pipe is the most likely reason.Get it checked
- E10System water pressure has fallen too low for the appliance to fire. Top the system back up to 1.2 bar and it will restart.Usually simple to fix
- E02The overheat thermostat has tripped. Almost always this means water is not moving through the appliance properly rather than that it is running too hot.Get it checked
- E16The control board cannot confirm the fan is running at the speed it asked for, so it will not let the burner light. This one needs an engineer.Get it checked
- E60The appliance cannot confirm the pump is moving water. Left alone it becomes an overheat fault, so it is worth acting on promptly.Get it checked
- E20The appliance is having trouble sensing the flame it has lit. It usually points at the sensing electrode or its earth rather than at the gas side.Get it checked
- E38The burner lit correctly and then the flame signal was lost part-way through the cycle. That points somewhere different to a failure to light.Get it checked
- E03Flue gas temperature has exceeded the safe limit. It usually means the heat exchanger is not transferring heat properly into the water.Get it checked
