Zanussi washing machines fault codes

Zanussi washing machines use a code system shared across the Electrolux group, so an answer here applies equally to AEG and Electrolux machines. The character after the E tells you which part of the machine is complaining, and on models without a display the same fault is counted out in beeps and flashes instead — which is worth learning, because it turns a blinking light into a diagnosis.

Where the code shows on a Zanussi

The same fault has up to four faces. A machine with a display shows E20; another shows C2; a third shows F9 rather than E50. A machine with no display beeps and flashes the count instead — one for the fill family, two for draining, three for the pressure sensor, four for the door, and fifteen for the leak and foam family. Count the beeps between pauses and you have the code without a display at all.

How to reset a Zanussi

Turn the programme dial to Off, wait, then select again. Where the manufacturer wants more than that they are unusually direct about it, and on the motor and heating codes their published wording is to unplug the machine and leave it unplugged until the fault has been fixed.
